Horndog High School Teachers Finally Fired

It's taken just over a year, but two teachers involved in a sex romp have been fired.

A second "Horndog High" teacher was fired Wednesday amid a new allegation that her sexual relationship with another teacher started years before that fateful night.

Cindy Mauro was found guilty of "extremely serious misconduct" for having a sexual encounter with fellow teacher Alini Brito in November 2009 at James Madison High School in Brooklyn during an evening student performance.

An arbitrator found Mauro's defense - that she was aiding her diabetic friend by getting her candy and that custodians and security agents were mistaken when they said they saw them naked in a classroom - "lacking in basic truthfulness."

Another Madison teacher, Maria Bucca, testified Mauro had told her she had "fooled around" with Brito eight years earlier. Mauro denied having told Bucca the two had ever been intimate.

Mauro claimed that she was escorting Brito, who is diabetic, up to her room to give her sugar and an insulin injection. The arbitrator didn't buy that argument, particularly when it is completely unnecessary to provide a diabetic with insulin by taking off their clothes. Indeed, the custodian noted: "(Brito) was naked on the floor... and I saw the blond between her legs, and when I opened the door, she looked up and told me to shut the door."

The two teachers were discovered by a school custodian in a classroom during a SING performance in a state of undress.

Had this occurred in Brito or Mauro's home, this would never have become an issue, but because the incident occurred on school property and during a time when students could have found the two in the midst of the act of passion, it showed a clear disregard for discretion and a complete lack of common sense.

This case highlights the ongoing problems in disciplining teachers who engage in inappropriate or illegal behavior in the schools. It took more than a year to complete the disciplinary process, and Brito, who was fired on December 27, 2010, is now suing to get her job back. That's absolutely absurd and she has no business in a classroom after this incident.

What is in the water at James Madison HS in Brooklyn? First, two teachers were caught with their bras off and pants down; then a third teacher was accused of inappropriate contact with a student. It got to the point where the teachers' sexual hijinks made the late night talk show rounds.


Now, we've got an assistant principal accused of sexual harassment.

What a mess.

You knew this was coming. The fact that two female teachers were caught in the midst of a romantic session by a janitor (who claimed that he thought that the duo were students, not staff) while the school was in the midst of the SING talent competition was bound to make the late night talk show circuit.

This is the kind of comedy that practically writes itself.

"Say what you will, this is the first time being a high school janitor has paid off," Letterman said on his CBS broadcast Wednesday.

"The teachers, in their defense, said it was show and tell."

On the West Coast, O'Brien also made hay of the alleged Sapphic shenanigans.

"The good news is, the two teachers won the talent show," he joked.

"The lesbian sex was between a Spanish teacher and a French teacher, which begs the question: Where was the field hockey coach?"

The gags did not go unnoticed by at least one of the teachers.

"I was even on Letterman," Mauro could be heard saying to a friend inside her Brooklyn apartment yesterday.

As she left her home, she sarcastically told reporters: "This is great. I love the paparazzi."

Mauro, 33, and Brito, 29, have been suspended from their jobs at the Brooklyn school and sent to a reassignment center, nicknamed the "rubber room."

The rubber room is getting a lot of additional attention this week as another Madison HS teacher was sent there after allegations arose of inappropriate conduct with a student, and another teacher, who made an infamous appearance on the MTV show Jersey Shore was put there after video showed him assaulting a woman.

Mauro and Brito deny the allegations. That's kind of tough to do seeing how they were caught in flagrante delicto.

UPDATE:
A couple of teachers who are stuck in the rubber rooms are suing to get them eliminated claiming that they are unconstitutional and somehow deprive them of their rights. Sorry to break it to them, but they're lucky that those rooms exist because many of them should have been terminated and instead get to continue collecting their salaries for months on end while their cases get investigated and the union operates to delay the actions against the teachers.

Also at play is the fact that so few arbitrators are available to resolve cases that the cases have piled up.

Brooklyn HS Teacher Sex Scandal; Now With More Inappropriate Conduct

The scandalous news of two female teachers discovered during a SING performance at James Madison HS in Brooklyn embracing the language of love in a state of undress has apparently touched off additional investigations, which have discovered that another female teacher apparently engaged in inappropriate conduct with a male student.

Social studies instructor Allison Musacchio is under investigation for having an inappropriate relationship with a male student, sources said.

It is the second scandal in as many days to rock the Midwood school where New York Sen. Chuck Schumer and Major League ballplayer Frank Torre once walked the halls.

School sources said they learned of Musacchio's alleged antics in March, after a female James Madison student saw her ex-boyfriend's phone number on the tenured teacher's cell phone.

Officials found more than 200 texts and calls between the teacher and the male pupil and yanked her from the classroom, sources said. They said the amount of contact was inappropriate.

Musacchio, 31, was also investigated for having a fling with a former student but the probe was dropped because the teen was of legal age and no longer at the school, school sources said.

Attempts to reach Musacchio at her home were unsuccessful Wednesday, but she has told a neighbor the allegations were untrue.

Lawyers for the two other teachers, French teacher Cindy Mauro, 33, and Spanish instructor Alini Brito, 29, claim no wrongdoing and deny the allegations.

Also, the Daily News omits the fact that the most famous attendee of the school is none other than Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.

The Daily News is reporting that two teachers couldn't wait for their work day to end before getting hot and heavy in a classroom while the school was attending a talent show in the auditorium. A janitor reportedly found the two female teachers "undressed" in the classroom.

Two female Romance language instructors were tossed out of their Brooklyn high school after being caught "undressed" in an empty classroom, sources told the Daily News Tuesday.

Students at James Madison High School in Midwood were watching a talent show in the auditorium while Alini Brito and Cindy Mauro were speaking the international language of love, sources said.

A janitor stumbled on French teacher Mauro, 33, and Brito, 29, a married Spanish instructor, and tattled to school officials on Nov. 20.

Both tenured teachers were removed from the classroom and sent to Education Department "rubber rooms" while they're investigated for misconduct, sources said.

Romance teachers engaging in the language of love and showing off their own talents.

You can't make this stuff up.

This wasn't just some ordinary talent show, but was part of SING, which is a school wide theater competition (begun at my alma mater), where class years compete against each other for bragging rights. Just ignore the crappy movie by the same name, and instead think of the Fox Show Glee.
